IPads or Chromebooks

Andrews Middle School made a change in 2018-19 from using Ipads to utilizing Chromebooks. Every student on campus has their own personal device to use in the classroom; they may also take them home for personal use.

Based on my own experiences, I would rather use the Ipads instead of the Chromebooks. The first reason I would choose the Ipads would be because of their better software system. Their structure and  design is nicer than a Chromebook. The Apple company is very successful, and on when looking at ratings, people really seem to enjoy them more and are convinced Apple offers the better product. Ipads being mostly glass are very easy to break, especially when teenagers are handling them.

Chromebooks may be seen as a better choice due to the fact that they are more durable than an Ipad. Although the Chromebooks make typing assignments easier, the device is also harder to carry around. According to Apple, an IPad only weighs 15.41  ounces; on the other hand, a Chromebook weighs 4 pounds which can cause pain to the back over time.

There are many pros and cons to both brands, yet they are both very successful companies. They both get the job done and encourage kids to embrace their creativity. Andrews ISD is blessed to have a one to one ratio so that every student can use the technology of the future.
